Ich is one of the most common fish diseases every hobbyist has to deal with it at some time. The cure is quite siple and does not require any medication other than salt and heat.

Treatment
Raise the heat slowly to 82f to 86f. The heat speeds up the life cycle of the parasite making treatment time shorter.

Add 1 tbs of aquarium salt to every 5 gallons of water. If you have any scaless fish in the tank such as pleco's use a dosage of one tbs per 10 gallons. When a water change is done replace only the amount of salt for the amount of water removed. Pre-disolve the salt in tank water and add slowly over several hours.

continue treatment for 14 days or 5 to 6 days after the spots dissapear.

There are lots of ich treatments available some work very well if you decide to go this route read the directions carefully before puchase as quite a few of them can do more harm than good. Some will even stain things inside the tank.
